Outline Of The Day

09:00 Welcome + Philosophy

This opening session sets the tone for the entire day. We’ll look at why short-game coaching often feels disjointed or overly complicated, and how the WedgeMatrix approach brings clarity through a structured, player-first framework. You’ll learn how the three pillars—Technical, Skill, and Performance—integrate into every coaching decision you make, ensuring you’re not just adding more information, but building a deeper understanding of why short-game outcomes happen. This creates the foundation for a more confident, more impactful coaching career.

09:30 Technical Baselines

In this session, we dive into the technical truths that matter: depth control (both vertical and horizontal), dynamic loft delivery, strike consistency, and functional release patterns. You’ll learn how to evaluate technique through cause and effect, rather than positions or preferences, and how to adapt these fundamentals to different players with different movement patterns. This session gives you the clarity to explain, fix, and build great technique without relying on tips or trends.

11:00 Live Chipping & Pitching Lab

Here, we take the technical concepts onto the grass. You’ll watch real shots, analyse real patterns, and learn how to make fast, effective coaching interventions. We’ll explore how technique shifts influence strike, flight, and turf interaction, and you’ll get hands-on experience applying what you’ve learned. This is where theory becomes practical—helping you develop the confidence to coach chipping and pitching with precision in your own lessons.

12:30 Lunch / Open Q&A

This is your chance to ask me your own individual questions directly.

13:00 Skill Training

Skill is what separates a golfer who can perform in practice from a golfer who can perform under pressure. In this segment, you’ll learn how to train trajectory control, friction creation, strike variability, and speed management. We’ll explore task-led drills that build genuine skill rather than just tidy technique. You’ll leave with a set of exercises you can use immediately to help players adapt, adjust, and create the shot they intend to hit.

14:15 Performance Coaching

Short-game improvements don’t matter unless they show up on the course. This session focuses on variability training, decision-making frameworks, and practice structures that develop performance under realistic conditions. You’ll learn how to design sessions that build competitive resilience, improve scoring patterns, and turn technical and skill gains into on-course confidence. This is where your coaching begins to truly influence scoring outcomes.

15:30 Coach-the-Coach: Live Player Assessments

This interactive session brings everything together. You’ll work with real players, diagnose their short-game issues, and apply the WedgeMatrix approach under supervision. You’ll receive personal feedback on your analysis, communication, and coaching decisions—giving you clarity on what you already do well and what will elevate your coaching even further. Coaches consistently say this is the most valuable part of the day because it accelerates growth immediately.

17:00 Wrap-Up, Certification Pathway, Next Steps

To close the day, we’ll review key takeaways, answer remaining questions, and map out how to implement the system in your coaching right away. You’ll also learn how this in-person day fits into the wider WedgeMatrix Certification pathway, giving you a clear route toward becoming a recognised short-game specialist. You’ll leave with clarity, structure, and a renewed level of coaching confidence that carries directly into your very next lesson.
